E.D. Standard seat and backrest. Did the seat swap earlier this week. Finally put some miles on it today. All I can say is WOW!! I felt like I sat in the seat instead of on the seat and with the adjustable backrest, I was able to find that sweet spot as we rode. Through the twisties I felt in control. I also liked the fact I sat lower in the seat from the stock position. Thank you Mike Couch for all your help and the incredible service. October 2013

*My life with E.D. Feb 10 / 2013 I figured while I was still around that I owed Mike a review for such an almost unbelievable difference between the stock seat and the E.D. Big Touring seat. I bought my Studded Big Touring during the Aruba sale, about 3 months ago. I've put about 2000 miles on the bike since the seat has been on it, a lot of that around town, but also a few trips out of town for work around 250 miles round trip. I am right at 6ft. and (now down to) 195 lbs. Several months before the sale, I had gone on a ride with Cody and he was gracious enough to swap seats with me for a while. Even though his seat was the standard low and put me too far forward, I knew then that E.D. was in my future I dont know of any praises that can be given for this seat that have not already been said except for maybe how this seat has effected my overall health and well being. I have a permanent "impairment" in my neck from an auto accident several years ago (stopped just short of being called a disability ) With the stock seat always putting pressure on my tailbone, well you can just guess where all that pressure was transmitted to It was difficult to go more than 2 to 3 weeks without a visit to my chiropractor and sometimes would have to choose driving over riding because of the discomfort factor and speaking of that, I dont think I could go more than 25 or 30 miles before I would start moving around trying to get comfortable ... Now, with the E.D. Big Touring Seat, it has not only relieved that pressure, but it also places my back in a more correct posture. My neck only seems to be effected by my work these days and riding is almost therapeutic comparatively to what it was with the stock seat. Now the only time I move around in the seat is to keep my butt from falling asleep from being too comfortable I wanted to say Thank You to Mr. Erdody for constructing such a high quality, comfortable seat and also Thank You to Mike/Chiefriceburner in taking the time to Market these seats to us on the Clinic the way you do to help us out Had I known when I bought the bike what I now know, this seat would have been on the bike BEFORE I started riding it Rod

I have gone thru 6 seats now. I have a skinny German ass. The ED Seats are the ONLY seat that allows me to put in 7+ hours of saddle time. Just my .02$ Franz Vogl September 24 / 2013

* "My review of the E.D. Big Touring Seat" After the rave reviews of the ED seats (edseatd.ca) and after talking with Mike (US Rep) I decided to purchase the Yamaha Road Star Big Touring seat and matching Passenger seat. As most of you know the stock seats are a bit to be desired to say the least. I have had the stock seat modified (gel), bought a custom made pillow top (same basic shape as stock just built up). Needless to say I have almost $700 in two sets that I can only ride for about 50-60 miles before I feel a lot of pain and about 25 miles before I start fidgeting in the seat, not to mention monkey butt when its hot (Florida). Its like sitting on a round bowl with a thick rim. So you may appreciate my apprehension at the thought of putting out $500 plus for another set, but I had to do something, I love to ride even with the pain. Wife and I are out (2 up) most weekends doing 200-300 miles each day. I have read about ED, Ultimate, Mustang and Corbin, here on this forum. I am 6ft, 190 lbs, what I lost in the arse went to the belly. Inseam is 32-33 inch. I was desperate to find the right seat(s) once and for all. I placed my order with Mike (E.D. Seats USA Rep) and 7 days later they were on my door step. The first thing I noticed about the seats when I pulled them out the box was the quality and workmanship, these are nice looking well built seats. Installation was quick and simple. They come pre-installed with mounting hardware. Removed rear hex bolt holding on the OEM passenger seat, unlock driver seat, poof old seats are off. Slide new rear seat into place bolt her down, slide rider seat in and push down at the tongue and you are done ready to ride in less than 10 mins.. Took longer to find my Allen socket then to put them on. I suck at tool organization. The Rider Seat:
I ride my bike everyday, 25 miles to and from work. My very first impression of the seat as a rider was it felt like sitting on half a seat. If you are use to sitting on the OEM seat there is more seat in the thigh area where the E.D. Seat Big Touring has less. The Big Touring seat starts to taper (narrower) to the back of the tank at about 4.5 inches from the back seam of the seat (the "V" area). So, this seat goes from a 17.5 inch width to about a 8 inch width rather aggressively This is what give the rider more leg room between the thighs. If you are not use to this style of seat it can be a little disconcerting at first, it was for me. The second thing that concerned me was as the seat narrows the stitching and crease at about 6 inches from the back stitch line cuts into the thighs, the stitching is ridged at the edge as it narrows. I attributed this to the newness of the seat, the vinyl not being broken in. This turned out to be true. After about 50 miles that sensation went away. The feeling of riding on half a seat has also gone away, its a matter of butt positioning at the back of the seat and a good break in period. 100 miles or so should do it. Yesterday we went on a 2up 300 mile run, not once did I have the need to stop or stand up at a light to rest my arse, get blood flowing again if you know what I mean. I still fidget a little, but then again I have had 6 surgeries to repair broken femur and pelvis, and last year hip replacement. Damn car vs motorcycle accident will cause some nerve damage. But what I use to feel and now is night and day. This seat is comfy. I had a 6'6" 300 pound friend sit on it (also a RS owner on OEM seat) his first reaction was "Wow, I feel nothing, this is nice". The Passenger Seat: My wife states the seat is real comfy. Conclusion: The Yamaha Road Star Big Touring seat are nice, well made, great looking, comfy and easy to install. If you are in the market for a set of seats look at E.D. Seats, remember there is a 15 day return policy. Seats are very rider subjective and your mileage may vary to sort-of-speak, but I for one am happy with my decision. Off to Biketoberfest on Saturday Ride Safe All, Mike.
